The requirements of a harness?Comfort, freedom of movement, light weight, abrasion resistance, easy of putting it on in the first place, and adjustment when it's on.

Petzl's designs have all aspects of using and wearing a harness covered. Petzl harnesses are designed with Delta system leg loops and a DoubleBack buckle system. The leg loops shape offer the user an even distribution of pressure on the lower torso and maximum comfort from the lower circular edge of the leg loop.

With the DoubleBack buckles, which can be fully undone, adjustments can be made easily with a single pull. Climbing, caving and canyoning are all covered by the Petzl harness collection.

All harnesses have new colour schemes for 2003 - grey, blue and sea-green tones.

Elite Series The Calidris, Aquila and Ciconia give an exclusive level of comfort and support thanks to their wide double belt : - made from breathable materials, they allow for maximum ventilation. - the belt is stiffened by a built-in spreader system, giving excellent back support.

Gravity Series The Corax and Corvus give an excellent compromise between comfort and support and freedom of movement : their flexible belt adapts perfectly to the climber's movements.

Escape Series The Pandion and Tetrax remain as light and comfortable as ever. The belay loops are a different color according to the size of the harness : a little "extra" when used by groups.

The Patented Delta System

Petzl's has introduced a distinctive and innovative leg-loop design, the Delta System. The lower edge of each leg loop is circular, while the upper edge is oval with a tensioned contour that creates an even weight distribution across the entire area of contact with the thighs. This unique ergonomic design not only enhances comfort by ensuring even pressure, but also improves freedom of movement through a better fit.Patented Double Back Buckles

Incredibly easy to adjust, the Double-Back buckles offer an extra margin of safety over traditional buckles because they don't require back threading -- a feature really appreciated by climbing- and ropes-course instructors or by anyone who might inadvertently forget to back-thread a regular buckle.

Fast Forward gear loops

Designed for quick and easy access, these sturdy moulded nylon gear loops stand clear of the harness and use gravity to keep gear and quickdraws within easy reach.

Twin-Air Waist Belt

A wide, comfortable belt, designed with two supportive strips of padded webbing, offers, great support with maximum ventilation and minimum weight.

New Micro-vent Padding Developed expressly for Petzl, Micro-vent padding combines a highly ventilated foam and special breathable laminates offering unrivaled support, durability, and breathability.

Special features for Canyoning

The adjustable harnesses designed for canyoning are made of materials that are very resistant to abrasion, even when wet. A single high attachment point makes the frequent clipping and unclipping easy, and gives excellent comfort while being suspended.

Special features for Caving

In caving you need a harness that is simple, solid and safe. They must hug the body, not get in the way when crawling and not catch in squeezes.To optimize the position of the ventral rope clamp/grab, the attachment points and the low position are efficiently designed. Webbing and buckles are designed and protected to resist abrasion and avoid being accidently loosened by rubbing.
