Ecrin Roc

The classic Petzl helmet. The Ecrin Roc has long been favoured by climbing and adventure centres for its performance and durability. Available in red or white.

The Ecrin Roc is fitted with 2 adjustment wheels that expand and contract the inner cradle, to create a perfect fit. Supplied with 2 foam headbands (choose thick or thin foam according to size). Thanks to the numerous holes in the shell, it offers perfect ventilation. When the wind and cold really bite, a set of plugs (sold as an optional extra) allows the wearer to keep their thoughts clear, and their head warm

The Ecrin Roc is fitted with headlamp retaining clips. Additional headlamp retaining clips are among the many options available for this helmet.

ELIOS

Light, strong & adjustable helmet

This helmet has a high density expanded polypropylene foam headpiece on the inside and a thermoformed ABS outer shell, providing both lightness and strength. The ergonomic shape provides maximum protection while ensuring a clear field of vision. A single adjustment wheel in the back and an adjustable chinstrap allow for efficient and quick adjustments.

3 colours. White is the most popular. Orange looks best on page. There's also pale blue.

Four exterior hooks and a groove in the outer shell are designed to attach and secure a headlamp.

Nothing has been left out in this simple, but refined helmet.

Visor for the Elios helmet

The Vizion is an indispensable accessory for the protection and comfort of ice climbers. Easily fitted to the Elios, and adaptable to any rigid helmet, it effectively protects the face from splinters of ice and snow.

The ergonomic shape and adjustability (4 positions) means that the field of vision is unobstructed and can be adapted to any situation.

The visor is coated with an abrasion resistant coating on the outside and anti-mist on the inside, for comfort in use and an extended lifetime.

HARD SHELL or LIGHT WEIGHT?

For many climbers and outdoor adventurers of all persuasions, there are always the pros and cons to weigh up between choosing a hard shell or a lightweight helmet. Given their similarity in price, and the fact that they are all subjected to the same damage tests, the choice is purely down to the user's application

FOR: Non-deformable shell - more robust in a rucksack. Better headlamp retention, (but the new Meteor 3 for 2006, will change that). Blockable ventilation holes.

AGAINST: Weight

FOR: Very light weight. Closer fitting, full adjustability over TWO sizes. Groovier colour choices. Next year's Meteor 3 will be fully adjustable in ONE size.

AGAINST: Can be damaged if tightly or carelessly packed into a rucksack.

It should be pointed out that both types are equally suited to the job they are intended for, that of protecting the head from hard and lumpy falling objects.
